•We aim to cater for the needs of all visitors in our home-based bed and breakfast, however, we do not permit smoking in the house.
•We are located in the village of Hamsterley, public transport is limited.
A service is provided by Aabat Taxis (01388 607607). The Service 88 runs from the Village at 07:55Hrs and returns from the bus station at 15:42Hrs and 17:40Hrs. The Service 88T (Taxibus), which has to be pre-booked by telephoning Aabat Taxis goes from Hamsterley at 10:15Hrs and 13:15Hrs and from Bishop Auckland Bus Station at 09:55Hrs and 12:55Hrs.
•The nearest railway station is Bishop Auckland, approximately 7.5 miles away.
•There are local taxi firms and we can make advance bookings for you.
•We regret that we cannot accommodate pets, with the exception of assistance dogs.
•Menus are available in large print if required. We regret that we do not have the facilities to prepare documents in Braille.
Arrival and Car Parking
•We have a car park with ample parking space. This area is covered by a light for arrival after dark.
•Parking is on a level gravel car park and access to the house is via 10 steps lit after dark.
•We offer assistance with luggage.
•Each bedroom is on the first floor and is accessed via a flight of stairs. The staircase has emergency lighting at all times.
•There are en-suite facilities in all rooms (walk in shower/W.C./wash basin), the floor in each bathroom being cushioned vinyl. The wash basin has a curved front and is on a pedestal.
•All interior doors are a minimum 76cm wide.
•Tea and coffee making facilities and biscuits are provided.
•Long-life milk is provided in all of the rooms, a jug of fresh milk is available on request.
•Our beds are made with non-allergic duvets and pillows. There are extra blankets in the wardrobe and hot water bottles are available on request.
•Switches and sockets have been installed at suitable heights, fulfilling current accessibility regulations.
•The T.V. in each room has a remote control.
•There is a welcome pack in each bedroom containing further information and emergency contacts.
•We have a large garden (with a lawn, flower beds) which guests are welcome to enjoy at all times.
•We have a large decking area with seating and views over the valley which guests can use for smoking or enjoying the view.
•Please feel free to request sight of our Fire Risk Assessment for information related to fire safety.
•We are happy to cater for special diets, or particular likes/dislikes. Please advise us of these before arrival. In some cases of severe allergies this may be impractical.
•We are happy to refrigerate medication.
•Mobile phone reception varies depending upon your provider but most services can be used outside. If you have problems let us know and you are welcome to use our landline for emergency calls.
